Color, light, nature, painting, music, & meditation nourished & influenced me.
Growing up in a community of artists beneath the mountains in Colorado, I was exposed early on to painting, dance, and meditation. This foundation supported many adventures in nature, creativity, and spirituality. Many summers we visited the beaches of New England. Memories of salty waves pulled me to Puget Sound in 1987 where I’ve stayed most of my adult life.
A healing crisis began as a youngster with rough emotional weather in the rainy Pacific Northwest. I was very fortunate to be surrounded by healers and comrades in crisis along the way. Daily functional life paused for me with the experience of health dis-ease and physical pain.
Being in the body was not okay!
For years I resisted experiencing the physical and emotional pain. I had to choose consciously to live. I now feel grateful for the challenges and sacred teachings that pain brought. I did not heal alone! I was determined to stay connected with others, and humbled by the support of healers and friends.
Childhood Guides & Meditations
My grandfather told me when I could barely reach the kitchen counter:
“there are three things that are important in life: spirituality, leadership, and humility.”
It felt like a secret code from another world to hear this.
I started meditating early on with my dad. I did the best I could, proud I could twist my legs into a zen sitting position (not doing this anymore!) I later chased spiritual practices & devoured many teachings, respecting many religions.
For me, there is not “one way” to be with truth, grace, source, essence, or presence.
The meditations I offer are a blend of traditions and tools, often showing up in the moment to what is called for.
I am a teacher and practitioner of the Terrain of Essence teachings. I trained in this school for nine years, and facilitated inquiry into the essential nature of being for more than four years. I am also trained in Touch Drawing. a creative, intuitive process of opening to feelings and healing. I practice and offer The Work of Byron Katie, another form of inquiry that opens the mind to freedom from stressful beliefs.
I have been a poet and a performer, trained in theater arts and created a form of Sound-Dance Painting, blending dance, music, and painting. I have a Masters in Marine Affairs and I advocate for salmon. In this work, I am grateful to be able to create and offer educational products about these magical creatures and their habitat.
I lead presence and inquiry meditations for various groups, and serve on the board of Emotion Literacy Advocates, a non-profit organization in Seattle creating and producing arts-based learning tools, with a focus on language, for self & social awareness.
My joy is to support others in developing
the capacity to lovingly witness
their own true nature.
